SkinPen® is the first FDA-cleared microneedling device. SkinPen® Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, uses tiny microneedles to create millions of controlled microchannels within your skin. This process triggers your skin’s own renewal process, boosting collagen and elastin production and giving your skin a younger, firmer, and more radiant appearance. On average, 3 treatments are needed 4-6 weeks apart for desired results. More treatments may be needed.

SkinPen® microneedling is designed to improve the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, and pigmentation irregularities. Additionally, it can be used to reduce the appearance of scars and large pores. While some redness is expected, it will go away within a few hours. The results of SkinPen® microneedling are long-lasting and require minimal maintenance.

This treatment includes PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin). PRF is collected from blood and processed to contain collagen-stimulating components. As PRF is recognized by the body and absorbed deeper into the tissue, it allows growth factors to be released slowly, resulting in more rapid results.

Here at Vita Aesthetics, your provider will apply a topical anesthetic to the skin prior to the procedure. This allows for a relatively pain-free experience.

What happens after microneedling? Is there any downtime?

Following your treatment, your skin may appear pink to red for two to four days, similar to a mild sunburn. Some patients have also reported mild swelling.

Here at Vita Aesthetics, your provider will customize an at-home post-skincare regimen that will aid in the recovery process.

When will I see the results?

Clients may notice healthier-looking skin immediately just after 1 treatment. Results will continue to improve three to six months following your last treatment. *Individual results will vary.

How many treatments do I need?

Here at Vita Aesthetics, your provider will recommend a series of treatments based on your individual goals. Most patients receive a series of three to six treatments spaced about four to six weeks apart.

Your provider will develop a procedure and maintenance plan specific to you to help maintain the rejuvenating effects.

Who should not have a microneedling treatment?

SkinPen® microneedling is not recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing, patients who have active skin cancer in the treatment area(s); open wounds; or irritated skin in the treatment area(s); an allergy to stainless steel or anesthetics; a bleeding dysfunction; or are currently taking drugs with the ingredient isotretinoin (such as Accutane).
